Saturn
is the son of sun, and his wife Chhaya (Shadow goddess) and
hence also known as Chayyaputra. He is the cousin of Yama,
the Hindu God of justice. Saturn promised Hanuman that
anyone who prayed to
Hanuman,
especially on Saturdays, would be rescued from the "malefic"
effects of Saturn. Lord Shani is also known as Judge of
Justice. In shani dasa if a person do wrong doings shani
gets irritated and troubles him, but if a person do right
doings and devoted shani will not give any bad effects to
him. The Saturn rules
number 8 in Vedic numerology.
Saturn is also known as a planet of darkness. The light of
Saturn is inauspicious. When Saturn is well located in the
chart, it brings intelligence, alertness of right and wrong,
honesty, truthfulness, love of justice, longevity,
recognition, power, leadership and organizational abilities.
Saturn is a planet of confinement, when Saturn is ill
positioned or badly accepted in chart, it brings impediment,
embarrassment, antagonism, bad karmas, lawsuit and jail. A
manual laborer is represented by Saturn. Saturn makes people
lonely, pessimistic and afraid of situations, drug addiction
and sometimes suicidal tendencies. Saturnine people do not
like discipline, they are rebellious and law breakers. They
behave like old men and appear older then their
chronological ages. This is because Saturn rules over old
age and is often described as an elderly planet. Saturn
rules over the nails, hairs, teeth, bones, skeleton, skin
and nervous system.
Mercury, Venus, rahu and ketu
are friends of Saturn, and the sun, moon and mars are
enemies. Jupiter relationship is neutral.
